Schools

Schools are an integral part of our children’s development as well as an invaluable asset to parents and the community. As the Healthy Sarasota County initiative was being developed, School Health and school nurses played an important role in spreading the 5210 message, assessing weight status and health behaviors, and working with kids and families to achieve health lifestyle goals.  Nutrition educators from Sarasota District School Food & Nutrition Services and Sarasota County Extension have also incorporated the 5210 message into their classroom activities.
